Shutdown Ends; NIH Resumes Operations
The federal government shutdown ended when Congress passed legislation to fund the government (at sequestration levels) until January 15 and extend the debt ceiling until February 7. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has resumed operations. More information from the NIH can be found here: NOT-OD-14-007.
The legislation that reopened the government also stipulated that the congressional budget committee has until December 13 to come up with a budget for Fiscal Year 2014. In the meantime, please contact your Members of Congress to ask them to support the NIH! You can do so here: Take Action website.
