Update on the 21st Century Cures Act
On Friday, July 10, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act, by a vote of 344-77. This important legislation would provide the NIH with $8.75 billion in funding over five years. The House also defeated the amendment by Congressman Brat that would have made the NIH funding discretionary rather than mandatory.
This victory for the NIH and imaging research would not have been possible without advocacy. The Academy thanks all of its members who contacted Congress in support of H.R. 6. In order for this legislation to become law, the Senate now has to consider it. Please click on the link in the sidebar to thank the House and urge the Senate to take action.
